Funerals · Celebrations of life · Memorials · Interment and scattering of ashes

Every life has a story worth honouring, and every meaningful moment deserves to be celebrated with thought, warmth and authenticity.

I trained with the Academy of Modern Celebrancy. I am based in Ayrshire and am happy to travel throughout Scotland and the United Kingdom.

About

I've always loved people and their stories - and I've always loved words.

As your celebrant, I create beautifully bespoke ceremonies, thoughtfully crafted to reflect your story and the people at the heart of it. With warmth, sensitivity and a genuine appreciation for life's most meaningful occasions, I take the time to listen, understand what matters to you, and bring your ceremony to life with grace and authenticity.

I'm also a yoga teacher, and that part of my life brings something important to my work too: a sense of calm, presence and openness. I believe there's something special about giving people the time and space to feel heard.

Services

When someone we love dies, it is important to mark the end of that life in a personal, meaningful way.

As an independent celebrant, I listen to your wishes and the stories of your loved one and create a bespoke ceremony. I support you in making the choices that are right for you and your family. It is your choice whether your ceremony includes readings or eulogy by family or friends. It is your choice whether your ceremony is with or without religious elements such as hymns or prayers.

Funerals, Celebrations of Life, and Memorials

A funeral is a ceremony in which we acknowledge the death of someone significant; we commit the body to be cremated or buried; as mourners, we support the family. A funeral takes place at a crematorium, cemetery, or natural burial ground.

A memorial is a ceremony that takes place weeks or even months after the cremation or burial. Like a celebration of life, this ceremony may take place in any appropriate venue.

Interment / Scattering of Ashes

Some people want a very private interment or scattering of ashes, but if you want something more to say your final goodbyes then I can assist you to create a ceremony to mark the final resting place. For some families, a scattering or interment of ashes takes place shortly after the funeral; for others, it may take place years later.

As an independent celebrant, I am able and happy to include in the ceremony any elements that are appropriate to you as a family. These elements – readings, poems, rituals, music - can include the secular, the spiritual, and the religious.

What is your fee, and what is included?

£200for a funeral, celebration of life, or memorial

£100for an interment of ashes

My fee includes travel within a 15-mile radius of Ayr. If the location is further away, there is an additional fee of 55p per mile. Any other expenses are agreed in advance and in writing.

How much notice do you need?

Ideally, two weeks before the date of the service. In that time, we meet in person so you can tell me about your loved one, and I begin to craft the ceremony based on your wishes. I share a draft of the script and you have a short period to make any amendments to the script.
