Privacy policy
Drafted by Tempany Web Studios for Jennifer to review before launch. Not legal advice.
Last updated 15 October 2026.
Who I am
I am Jennifer Ellis, an independent celebrant based in Ayr, Ayrshire. I am the data controller for the personal information collected through this website and when you ask me to lead a ceremony. You can contact me at info@jenniferelliscelebrant.co.uk or on 07425 170743.
What I collect and why
- Contact form. Your name, email address, phone number if you give it, and your message. I use these only to reply to you and, if you ask me to, to arrange a ceremony. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and my legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
- Arranging a ceremony. If you engage me, I will collect what I need to write and lead the ceremony: details about the person who has died, their family and friends, and your wishes. Some of this may be sensitive. I use it only to create and deliver the ceremony, and I keep it confidential. The lawful basis is performing our agreement.
- Phone and email. If you call or email me directly, I keep your details so I can reply and keep track of our conversation.
How the form is delivered
Messages sent through the contact form are delivered to my email inbox by Web3Forms, a form-delivery service. Web3Forms processes your message only to pass it on to me. The website itself is hosted by Cloudflare.
Cookies and analytics
This website does not set cookies and does not use advertising or tracking. I use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying individual visitors.
Sharing
I do not sell or share your information. I share details of a ceremony only with the people who need them to make it happen, such as the funeral director you have appointed, and only with your agreement.
How long I keep information
I keep enquiry messages for up to 12 months after our last contact. I keep ceremony scripts and the notes used to write them for up to six years, in case you or your family ask for a copy or I need them for my records, after which they are deleted.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, object to how I use it, or ask me to restrict its use. Email me and I will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If I change this policy I will update the date at the top of this page.
